FBI raid, San Francisco
FBI agents mill about outside a house on the 800 block of Lisbon Street following an early morning raid on Nov. 20, 2023

Update: The FBI confirmed on Nov. 22 that the raid was tied to a shooting homicide at Crissy Field earlier this month. The agency had on Nov. 21 confirmed that the raid on Lisbon Street was not related to a missing child without offering any additional details.

Residents of San Francisco’s Excelsior District were jolted awake this morning by three or four loud bangs as Federal Bureau of Investigation agents raided a home on the 800 block of Lisbon Street.

An eyewitness described many agents on the scene, and saw a person being led out of a house by agents and into the back of a car. The loud bangs commenced at about 6 a.m.; agents were still observed “boxing stuff up” at 8 a.m.

A person is holding up a cell phone with a picture of a missing child, potentially involving the FBI.

Prentice Danner, the spokesperson for the local FBI office, confirmed only that the bureau conducted “court-authorized law enforcement activity” on site this morning.

Neighborhood residents also noted that, days ago, people purporting to be FBI agents canvassed the neighborhood, asking whether they’d seen a missing child. The child in question is Kento Hernesto Juarez, who was last seen in February 2019 and would now be 10.

It is unclear if these activities are related.

  2. Joe – do you know whether anyone reached out to the FBI about the people in the neighborhood purporting to be FBI agents? Seems too coincidental to not be related.

    1. Mitch —

The FBI says these are not related actions. It has not confirmed to me that those were its people.

It would not make sense to tip one’s hand before a raid, so it’s not surprising that these are unrelated developments.

      1. Or it could be a cover story. For example, say you’re looking for a child, when in reality a big drug bust is going down.
